Ideology of Self learning

Qamar e Bani Hashim school has always motivated the students towards the ideology of self Directed learning in the classrooms. The Teachers’ role is more of a Mentor or a facilitator in the classroom, which makes learning an enlightenment process. The skill sets provided in our classrooms help the students become more confident and proactive with their approach.

IT Based Learning

We provide IT based education in all subjects through 18 dedicated computer/ Laptop Labs with high speed fiber internet connections for better learning at par with global standards. We also provide a Robotics lab. Dedicated Arduino classes for teaching concepts of Artificial Intelligence and robotics.

Blended Learning

Blended Learning is the latest Self Learning method of providing a rich educational environment through blending face to face learning with the latest technological devices. The students select their own learning curve on the basis of suggestions provided by a BL learning website. These suggestions are based on the student assessment and progress. Therefore the students who have higher aptitude progress as per their capacity, and students who require help at any point are provided different applications through exercises to better their progress.

Online Reachout During Covid-19 Lock down

QBHSS has not lost a single day in reaching out to our students struggling with their studies in the ongoing Lock Down due to the Pandemic. We have continuously arranged online sessions for all classes and subjects. We have a healthy record of active student participation through different media.

Re opening of Schools with strict SOPs

After a decline was observed in Corona Virus cases through out the country, the government announced gradual reopening of schools from the 15th September. QBHSS also opened doors to her education hungry students but after communicating with the Teachers, the students and their parents about following the SOPs laid down for a safe return to school. Health teams visited schools to guide about measurements to take during the reopening. The students were asked to bring their own masks and hand sanitizers. This was mandatory. The students who had no masks were asked to purchase masks at the desk placed at the entrance. Similar case with Hand sanitizers. School staff also helped in insuring that none of the students entering had a fever or cold. Digital Thermometers were provided to the staff, who checked the students’ temperature at the entrance. So far we have had a successful reopening with students and teachers following the SOPs religiously.

Student Challenges and Participation During Lock-Down

The school had been developing its e-learning platform way before this crisis and the students were already familiar with online learning through different websites such as IXL, Scratch etc. through which the methodology and process of self-learning had already started. But all the subjects were not covered through these websites, and thus different messaging platforms such as Whatsapp were used to reach out to students. The initial weak response urged us to find out why all the students were not responding to the online classrooms and remote learning. As we are well aware that most of our students belong to low privileged families an extensive task of collecting data regarding the required technological devices and basic internet accessibility by the students was undertaken in the form of “Student Online Affordability Survey 2020”. This survey was conducted by QBHSS and all its affiliate schools in Karachi and Gilgit Baltistan..

About Us

History

QBHS was started in a rented building in 1990 with 23 students. The two separate buildings for primary to higher secondary, were constructed by Friends Educational and Medical Trust.

Today the school stands with two separate sections of Primary and Secondary with over 4000 students enrolled. In total we boast 24 furnished computer labs with laptops and PCs for the students.

In 2016 we held a grand Science exhibition where more than 30 schools participated. QBHHSS is one of the most established institutions in the locality that caters to families who otherwise cannot afford to enroll their children to get a good education. It provides scholarships to deserving students and our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure they provide the best education to our students.

Socio Economic Condition of the Area

More than 80% of parents or students come from lower middle class backgrounds. QBH provides high end education to her students at a minimal fee that is affordable for the families.
